Lake & Surroundings

If you too love holidays at the lake, choose Umbria and Lake Trasimeno

Lake Trasimeno is only fourth in terms of size among the Italian Lakes, but it is definitely the largest of central Italy. Its shallow depth (at most 6 meters), classifies it as a laminar or shallow lake. The Lake Trasimeno area stands out for the beauty of its landscape and for its naturalistic quality, given the various species of mammals, fish, amphibians and of course lots of birds.

Also incredibly beautiful all the cities located directly on the lakeshore or located in the immediately surrounding area.

The lakeside towns

Castiglione del Lago
One of the most famous towns, among those that look out over the Lake. Of particular interest are the Ducal Palace and the Rocca del Leone.
San Feliciano
Characteristic fishing town (there is also a museum dedicated to fishing), hosts a port where boats to the Polvese Island depart from.
Passignano sul Transimeno
A place on a promontory on the northern shore of the lake.
Tuoro sul Trasimeno
Also on the north side of the lake is Tuoro, where you can also find a well-equipped beach (with which the Farmhouse La Fattoria del Rio di Sopra has agreed upon rates) and where you can catch ferries to the lake’s islands.

In the surrounding area

Città della Pieve
Probably inhabited since Etruscan times, Città del Pieve is magnificent hamlet, where the cathedral and the Torre del Pubblico stand out.
City of oil, included among the most beautiful hamlets of Italy.
Another hamlet among the most beautiful of Italy, honored also with the Orange Flag of the Touring Club Italiano.
In addition to this area rich in things to see, we note that thanks to the super road located just 5 minutes from the Farmhouse, La Fattoria del Rio di Sopra, you can reach Perugia in 25 minutes, and just as easily Arezzo, Siena, Pienza, Cortona, Assisi, Gubbio and many other towns between Umbria and Tuscany!
